Landmark Supermarket wins the VM+SD Store of the Year Award 2007
The international trade journal VM+SD (Visual Merchandising + Store Design, www.vmsd.com) awards its "The best in retail design" prize for the 37th time already. Winner in the categories "Best Supermarket" and "Store Planning" is the Landmark Supermarket project in Manila. Wanzl and its representative Target Display in the Philippines supplied this prestigious supermarket with wire tech shelves and displays, shopping trolleys, shopping baskets, clip-on baskets and entrance systems.
The impressive supermarket with a sales area of around 6,000 m² is located in the "Trinoma" shopping centre in Manila. Since its opening in Autumn 2007, each visitor to the supermarket has been convinced of its uniqueness.
The most eye-catching feature is the stylish and refined furnishings: elaborate ceiling and wall elements, the effective and at the same time energy-efficient lighting, high-quality shelves, displays and custom fabrications for an impressive goods display as well as the cream-coloured high-gloss tiled floor combine to produce a harmonious and inviting shopping atmosphere.
The in-store communication also warrants a mention. Large acrylic glass wall graphics with food motifs, clear aisle signage and column facings with back-lit frames for posters offer optimum advertising surfaces at the point of sale.

| Project E-Center Kreuzberg Koblenz, Dec. 2007 [more] |

A man and his vision: the entrepreneur Konrad Kreuzberg sought to create something unmistakeable, something that cannot be copied, as he had once before, when he opened his first business in the city centre and created the “Kreuzberg brand”. With the new E-Center in Koblenz, he has succeeded: the customer stampede since its opening on 24 October 2007 has proven him right. “Customers want to experience something when they shop. And it's not just about browsing through fashion stores,” explains Konrad Kreuzberg. Inextricably linked with the experience is the shop layout. The entrepreneur has relied on the expertise and quality of Wanzl Shopfitting to create his layout.
The shopfitting specialists from Leipheim have developed and implemented a harmonious total concept encompassing all carpentry, ceiling suspension, lighting and the layout of the generous photographic elements in addition to the shopfitting system. And Konrad Kreuzberg also chose Wanzl solutions for the shopping trolleys, trolley shelters and customer guidance systems.
Wanzl had overall design responsibility for the entire interior installation, except for the serving counter and all refrigeration technology. With its presentation in March 2007, the shopfitting specialists impressed both Kreuzberg and the regional Rhein-Ruhr subsidiary of Edeka. “Based on the ground plan developed by Edeka Rhein-Ruhr, we developed a concept that is persuasive through its authenticity,” explains interior designer Bernhard Braun, Key Account Manager with Wanzl Shopfitting. “From the first idea through to the 3D animation and assembly, we have shaped and guided this project.”One thing was most important to the shopfitting specialists: colours, forms, layout elements and materials should form a convincing unit and create an atmosphere in which customers would feel at home. For example, a gabion filled with stones forms the backdrop for a large herb wall. With glass counters and open preparation areas, entrepreneur Kreuzberg also creates a very unique ambience in his centre.

With the opening of "Naturalia Beauté Bio"on the Boulevard Raspail in Paris, these committed entrepreneurs have now made this idea a reality. Cosmetics, toiletries, aromatherapy and make-up: Naturalia Beauté Bio offers an elegent selection of 1,400 branded products on 52 square metres. A decision that reflects the Zeitgeist: for decades, organic cosmetics were mainly of interest to people with allergies. But now that has all changed. Today, the sales figures rise continually; on the French market alone, sales amount to around EUR 150 million.
Naturalia is well-known in and around Paris: the company offers a comprehensive range of groceries and personal care products and cosmetics in 37 stores. The company outlined strict specifications for the design of the new store: environmentally friendly construction and a reduction in emissions were essential. For example, this included energy-saving lighting. Wanzl Shopfitting, a partner of Naturalia for many years, has implemented the philosophy as a harmonious total concept. Every individual element was carefully selected by Wanzl and produced using environmentally friendly materials. The result is a place with its own unique charm which expresses respect for people and the environment, and therefore also the company's philosophy. The pleasant atmosphere exudes purity, cleanliness and harmony – while also presenting the high-quality products appealingly. And this is just the beginning: by the end of 2007, the management team plan to open two more Naturalia Beauté shops with a focus on nature, beauty and personal care.

| IDEmøbler Project, July 2007 [more] |

Living, dwelling, wellbeing: the homing trend continues, and with the deliberate withdrawal to your own four walls, so does the interest in products that create atmosphere and show style. The Danish furniture retailer IDEmøbler has taken on the challenge of satisfying precisely these customer requirements.
IDEmøbler's newest store, which is located in Gladsaxe near Copenhagen, was opened on June 16th, 2007. This store dedicates around 5,000 square metres of floor space to the sale of furniture and fittings. Products on offer range from furniture to home accessories and lighting. The intention was to design a store that is exclusive and modern yet simple. The focus was on the actual products and services available.
Expedit a/s, a subsidiary of Wanzl Metallwarenfabrik GmbH, based in Hadsten, Denmark, hooked up with the parent company in Leipheim, Germany, to plan and implement the design of the home accessories and lighting departments and to arrange the product displays. The store stands out for its excellent product display systems, which lend it an exclusive and appealing ambiance. The departments designed by Wanzl and Expedit occupy an area of just under 700 square metres.
Wanzl's alu tech system, developed specially for non-food areas, was used to display products. The wall and gondola units feature rear panels made from dark wood. This design affords the display area an elegant, conservative look, and it projects the products into the foreground.
In the lighting department, small gaps in the rear panels allowed lighting cables to be fed though to the back, thereby hiding the cables almost entirely from view. Divider clips in different heights were used to neatly present lighting products and other merchandise.
Worthy of note are the two action areas, which were created using the Expedit Basic 2 system and equipped with an oak wood frame. Bath and living create quite a splash here. These wall solutions also allow rugs and pictures to be displayed on the rear panels; alternatively, different types of back panel can be displayed.
Bedding is presented on a specially made platform that features hooks and movable holders. This allows customers to examine fabrics and check the quality. The movable holders have a rubber coating so that the bed linen always stays in the right position.
The grey stone floor and the aluminium product display systems with their black wooden rear panels give the home accessories and lighting area an impressive atmospheric feel, ensuring that this section of the store proves to be a special shopping experience.
The Danish furniture and fittings chain IDEmøbler was founded in 1969 by a number of independent furniture dealers who joined forces in the areas of purchasing and marketing. Today, IDEmøbler has 39 stores in Denmark, and further stores in Greenland, Iceland, Cyprus, the Middle East, the Faroe Islands and the Canary Islands. Annual turnover in 2006 amounted to around 215 million euro - 25% of this coming from the four stores in Copenhagen alone. IDEmøbler stands out for its modern and exclusively designed shops that serve to inspire customers. Employees boast extensive product expertise, allowing the company to offer customers an optimum level of service. IDEmøbler focuses above all on new trends and designs, as well as new colours and Scandinavian style.

Wanzl wire tech, part of the new shopfitting concept at EDEKA Südbayern
EDEKA Südbayern will be pursuing new avenues in future when designing its store layouts. The aim of this new concept was "to visualise the statement 'We Love Food' structurally and fill it with food", according to Klaus-Dieter Wessely, Structural and Shopfitting Manager with EDEKA Südbayern. "The customer experiences up close what EDEKA stands for: freshness, choice and quality."
This shopfitting concept was first implemented in the E-Centre in Ingolstadt. The characteristic feature of this design is that the groceries take centre stage. They can be seen from outside through large window fronts. The open architecture inside also allows shoppers an unobstructed view of the goods on display.
Shelving also contributes to optimal presentation of the merchandise. This consists entirely of Wanzl wire tech to a height of 1.6 metres, making the market very open. The goods are displayed prominently in the foreground, with grip holes discretely concealed.
The cosmetics department, with its curved shelves and illuminated glass tiers and basket heads, also deserves mention. The wine department exhibits distinctive character with its combination of dark wood, graphical elements and a wine-tasting counter with electronic wine advisor.
The floor of anthracite-coloured stone slabs gives the market an elegant look, but is also extremely functional. Spotlighting for glare-free presentation also sets the scene effectively for the ranges.
These three elements - flooring, shelving and lighting - ensure a unique ambience and offer the customer a special shopping experience.

Small but fine
The Massen Shopping Centre in Wemperhardt, Luxembourg, was completely renovated in summer 2006 and the sales floor space increased by 4,000 square metres. The centrepiece is the Massen family supermarket, which was given an atmospheric interior.
Massen Shopping Centre is a small complex with store branches, service providers, a range of considerably more upmarket restaurants following the renovation, two petrol stations and the Massen family supermarket. Its clientele consists of both local residents and visitors from the neighbouring countries of Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, who come primarily for wine, spirits and coffee. The supermarket is geared to both. In the course of the renovation, its concept was redirected to focus on freshness and ambience. A Mediterranean look is achieved using large Mediterranean-style shop-front elements. Another centrepiece of the new design is different wire shelves from Wanzl Shopfitting in a fine, transparent wire look, combined with wooden elements and integrated information boards. A "wine cellar atmosphere" is created in the wine department through a combination of dark wood and baskets with extensive wooden casing. In the coffee and tea department, a large atmospheric poster is displayed. For the cosmetic items, light wood tones are combined with the colour yellow; the baskets have shelf-floor lighting here. |
