With effect from 4 January 2010, Unseld Innenausbau und Ladenbau GmbH, based in Ulm, Donautal, was taken over by Wanzl Shop Solutions GmbH. Wanzl Shop Solutions GmbH is a company in the Wanzl Group, the worldwide leading supplier of the retail sector.
As part of the deliberation about a successor of the Unseld family, the previous owners of the company, a positive and forward-looking takeover concept was agreed together with Wanzl, guaranteeing the continuation of the company. Wanzl Shop Solutions GmbH will continue to run the business without change at the existing location. As part of the takeover, all 30 employees and all assets as well as the subsidiaries in Austria and Switzerland were acquired.
Mr Georg Unseld will take the role of Managing Director of Wanzl Shop Solutions GmbH and its foreign subsidiaries. Since January 2010, the management team has consisted of Mr Georg Unseld and Mr Peter Wetzstein, head of the Shopfitting business division at Wanzl Metallwarenfabrik GmbH.
Founded as a traditional joinery company, today Wanzl Shop Solutions GmbH offers modern shop and interior fitting as well as engineering services for construction project management and interior architecture. The products and services of the former Unseld company allowed Wanzl to substantially strengthen and expand the product spectrum of its existing shopfitting business division. Wanzl is, therefore, in an even stronger position, as a general contractor, to realise shopfitting projects from a single source and satisfy today's customer requirements and the increased demand for complete solutions – up to and including catering areas.
Professional employees in interior architecture, civil engineering, carpentry and assembly will now strengthen the Wanzl team and form a creative and effective service provider in the shopfitting and interior design areas, active throughout Europe.

Edeka FFFrische-Center Höchner in Schweinfurt You can go a great distance and move mountains in a very short time – assuming you have the right travelling companions. A good example is the new Edeka in Schweinfurt: a Frische-Center was built in less than three months, that inspires through creativity, service and versatility. Looking back, entrepreneur Gerald Höchner says: "The cooperation in this project was simply brilliant. That was the only way we could reach the 'four thousander' in 80 days."He is referring to the total floor space of 4,000 square metres. During configuration, he made use of the skills and products of Wanzl Shopfitting.
Whether 'Coffee-to-Go' or something tasty direct from the snack bar, fresh ideas are what give this market its special charm, binding the emotion and experience with service and a very wide product range – 300 direct suppliers are listed with top items. The Coffee-to-Go tower is right by the entrance area. The chief attraction is: Wanzl developed a special coffee cup holder for the 400 shopping trolleys, allowing the customers to drink their coffee at their leisure whilst shopping. "Four and a half thousand cups went out in the opening week," reports Gerald Höchner. "That's worthwhile if the customer then spends longer in the market."
"Höchner's FFFrische" is his credo and that is consistently implemented. You can watch the snack bar employees preparing crispy fresh salads, pressing fresh juices and more. With 'my butcher', he is also focusing on a totally unique concept. The experienced entrepreneur knows what he's doing. 16 years ago, Gerald Höchner opened his first Edeka, at that time in Poppenhausen. Today, next to the Frische-Center, he runs two further markets: an Edeka in Hofheim and an E-Center in Bad Königshofen. In total, the Höchner family company employs 223 people.
Some background info about the new Frische-Center: originally, a market centrally run by Edeka Nordbayern was planned, but then on relatively short notice it was decided to award it privately. When Gerald Höchner was awarded the Edeka Nordbayern contract, he decided, instead of buying a market as planned, to open a Frische-Center.
From then on they had to get moving, as time was tight. The planning of the interior installation was done by the Schulze und Tebbe design company in Dortmund. Gerald Höchner assigned the assembly to the experts from Wanzl Shopfitting, whom he had recently met at an opening ceremony. "Wanzl's work convinced me straight away."It was important to use the approx. 4,000 square metres as effectively as possible, and so he was looking for the right partner. "Schweinfurt hadn't previously had a market of this size that specialised in fresh foods," explains Gerald Höchner. The particular challenge was to present the considerable variety of products "so that it didn't end up looking like a aircraft hangar". The Wanzl team developed initial suggestions that immediately inspired him. Within a week the general conditions had been defined – from then on it was a case of immediate implementation. All that the planners had put on paper in the form of detailed sketches was rapidly carried out by the shopfitting specialists from Leipheim. Their task was to repeatedly create a bridge between creative ideas and practical uses.
The result of three months' hard work is a modern market, set out in an inviting, friendly and emotional fashion. Here, service means above all: no long searching, but cheerful shopping. Large ceiling rings simplify orientation; anchor themes with well-known brands on the end display units show the way to the various product groups. The shelves are set at a height of 1.60 m so that the customer can keep an overview throughout. A harmonious colour concept and large atmospheric pictures round off the ambience. The address is clear, concise and at times a little bold. "Bottle empty?" is written on the return machine for deposit bottles, for example, as an amusing reminder of a famous quote by an Italian football manager. A quick anecdote as an aside: the entrance portal of the original market had already been built when Gerald Höchner got involved. Once again the imagination of the entrepreneur shines through: "we simply turned the M into a U."The entrance is very "Edeka-like", as he calls it; and his concept bears fruit. In the entrance area there is not only a Coffee Tower, but also an info counter where you can buy bits and bobs. That is customer service in practice: nobody should have to cross half the shop just for a chocolate bar or cigarettes.
The entire market is fitted with the Wanzl system wire tech. A system that not only impresses Höchner for its quality, robustness and flexibility: "Because you can see through the wire grating, the shelves never seem 'empty'. That's a nice extra touch."Again and again he is approached by other companies precisely for this reason, he reports. The Wanzl specialists developed a special border for the gondola heads with the anchor themes that looks as if it is standard. He has also chosen to use Wanzl products for this reason in the entrance system, for the coated shopping trolleys – including the already mentioned holders for coffee cups – and the trolley shelters. Because Gerald Höchner is convinced: "The price and performance are simply right with Wanzl. They fitted the bill perfectly."

Boredom? That is probably the only thing that this supermarket doesn't stock!
Pontevedra is in northwest Spain, more precisely in the region of Galicia: it is a town with a long, turbulent history that fascinates historians and pilgrims alike. It is also an environment that seems to quicken the way to new paths. For there is now a supermarket here that is setting new standards. Not in terms of size, since at 900 square metres, Aquí é supermarket in the Calle Pinar is moderately sized. However, its service and enjoyment concepts are unique. A concept that really thrills: the supermarket in Pontevedra used this to reach the final round of the internationally acclaimed 'World Retail Award 09' competition.
The Aquí é supermarket in Pontevedra is one of six supermarkets that have reached the shortlist for the 'Retail Innovation Award' – and it represents the only Spanish entry in the competition. The whole supermarket is equipped with Wanzl wire tech, on the advice of consultant Jos de Vries, who is convinced about the quality of Wanzl system solutions. Gondolas, wall solutions, displays and the entire fittings in the wine section – all bear the signature of the Leipheimer firm. The Tango 160 trolleys are likewise supplied by Wanzl.
But what is so special about the Aquí é concept? "Where everything makes sense" – this is the developers' central thought and their slogan at the same time. And indeed, everything here is well thought out. From the store guide with its various 'shopping routes' and the environmentally friendly energy and waste concepts, to the verses of poetry in Galician on the wall, Aquí é is truly inspiring in its authenticity. The basic concept: that customers might shop more frequently, enjoy fresher groceries and, in this way, waste less foodstuff. It is our goal to make repetitive actions interesting. No sooner said than done: the consultants at Martinez and Franch have created a retail model that promises to keep boredom at bay.
Innovation and creative, service-oriented solutions characterise the entire supermarket. "Que faxemos hoxe" is for example the motto of an entire department. So: "What's for dinner tonight?" For this question is posed day after day in every household. Aquí é offers the answer, with daily menu suggestions developed at the alimentary research faculty at the University of Vigo. The recipe can be printed using a touch screen computer, the ingredients being in the immediate surrounding area – and if you're in a hurry, you can simply purchase the 'precooked version.'
Environmental awareness permeates the shop not only in terms of energy consumption, which is kept to a minimum through use of the most up-to-date devices. Anyone who does notrequest a (biodegradable!) shopping bag receives a discount of 3 cents. Local suppliers are preferred, and much more.
The supermarket in Pontevedra, which will open on March 25 amidst a gigantic celebration, is the second of its kind. The first Aquí é supermarket was opened in Ourense in October, where the Cuevas Group again made use of solutions provided by Wanzl. Typically for the Cuevas Group, which runs ten supermarkets and is based in Galicia, the thought process is above all 'outside the box'. It is not only due to international praise that things are going well: Aquí é attracts on average 1,250 customers and generates around 23 % more turnover than supermarkets in the surrounding area.

Getting and keeping customers is all about having attractive products. In time for EuroShop 2008, Wanzl´s Shopfitting Division is launching not only a whole series of interesting new developments but also brand new solutions. The company offers a full range of services for all aspects of shopfittings – from concept, design and planning to project co-ordination, production and realisation – all precisely tailored to the wishes and needs of the customers.
“Our role is that of a partner who points out new directions, develops ideas and opens up new potential,” explains Peter Wetzstein, Head of the Shopfitting Division at Wanzl. His team tracks all the latest trends and market developments, and is always ready to respond. Stores that want to be ahead of the competition these days – whether in the food or non-food sector – need to offer their customers real experiential value. Some coffee shops are showing one way of doing this, with product ranges that change completely every week, under slogans like ‘Each week a new world for you!’. Peter Wetzstein: ‘‘The shop layout keeps this promise right through to the PoS – the corporate identity is turned into something customers can feel and grasp.”
At EuroShop 2008 Wanzl´s Shopfitting Division is showing what can be done and taking a glimpse at what the future holds. At the heart of their display are the new developments, ‘duo tech’ and ‘scindo tech’, both of which offer interesting new design possibilities. But with the brand new ‘agilo’ display and the ‘balloon’ table news, Wanzl is also injecting a breath of fresh air and originality. The items displayed within these units are a real eye-catcher, thanks also to the design of the display. What is true of new developments is also true of the new generations of the existing system solutions ‘alu tech’, ‘wire tech’ and ‘high rack’: a brighter look, more flexibility and clever details characterise these new versions. Whatever the shop – a fashion boutique, sports shop, chemists, toy shop, household store or electrical retailer – these new ideas open up all kinds of design options for the various sectors.
In developing its new ideas, the team of experts from Wanzl´s Shopfitting Division also has an eye on high-selling products such as cosmetics, wine and fruit and vegetables. How these sections are presented is critical to the impression the shoppers have of the store. What´s needed are innovative suggestions, that make shopping a pleasure for the end consumer – from promotional displays for alternating special offers to the use of new media that enable enhanced service and a more exciting store experience.
Peter Wetzstein: ‘‘We aim to create visual identities and solutions that keep surprising our customers.” Whether displays, customised solutions or system solutions, one thing is clear: Wanzl´s customers all benefit from the company´s wide experience in a range of different sectors and from the infrastructure of the whole company. Wanzl Shopfitting caters for large-volume series production, as well as the realisation of bespoke smaller orders.

Exciting developments for shop layouts that are both modern and cost-effective: At “Euroshop 2008”, the most important international trade fair for retail, Wanzl Shopfitting showed two new systems.
The new duo tech system impresses above all with its look and flexibility. The name “duo” stands for the marriage of two very different materials: an aluminium profile and a wire “ladder”. With this system, the shopfitters have reflected back on the beginnings of the company and at the same time created something completely new. A custom colour scheme and a wide range of design options - with wood, plastic, metal, glass or even striking rear panel materials - ensure an effective appearance. The system can also stand on its own without a back panel, which affords huge freedom in interior design. Duo tech is a versatile and distinctive solution for attention-grabbing displays for sporting goods, textiles, toys and much more.
Our new development scindo tech combines visual understatement and a surprising weight-bearing capacity to deliver a solution that belies its strength. The free-standing L and T columns do not need to be secured to the wall. The high-quality and sturdy system fades into the background, placing the focus squarely on the merchandise. It is ideally suited to wooden panelling and can be varied in many different ways through the choice of material and colour. Exciting accents can also be achieved through effective lighting. The high load-bearing capacity makes the scindo tech system perfect for sectors that previously had to compromise when it came to presenting their merchandise. In short: with scindo tech, Wanzl has the ideal solution for numerous areas of application, from household or electrical goods through accessories for the home to textiles and leather goods, to name just a few examples.

A man and his vision: the entrepreneur Konrad Kreuzberg sought to create something unmistakeable, something that cannot be copied, as he had once before, when he opened his first business in the city centre and created the “Kreuzberg brand”. With the new E-Center in Koblenz, he has succeeded: the customer stampede since its opening on 24 October 2007 has proven him right. “Customers want to experience something when they shop. And it's not just about browsing through fashion stores,” explains Konrad Kreuzberg. Inextricably linked with the experience is the shop layout. The entrepreneur has relied on the expertise and quality of Wanzl Shopfitting to create his layout.
The shopfitting specialists from Leipheim have developed and implemented a harmonious total concept encompassing all carpentry, ceiling suspension, lighting and the layout of the generous photographic elements in addition to the shopfitting system. And Konrad Kreuzberg also chose Wanzl solutions for the shopping trolleys, trolley shelters and customer guidance systems.
Wanzl had overall design responsibility for the entire interior installation, except for the serving counter and all refrigeration technology. With its presentation in March 2007, the shopfitting specialists impressed both Kreuzberg and the regional Rhein-Ruhr subsidiary of Edeka. “Based on the ground plan developed by Edeka Rhein-Ruhr, we developed a concept that is persuasive through its authenticity,” explains interior designer Bernhard Braun, Key Account Manager with Wanzl Shopfitting. “From the first idea through to the 3D animation and assembly, we have shaped and guided this project.”One thing was most important to the shopfitting specialists: colours, forms, layout elements and materials should form a convincing unit and create an atmosphere in which customers would feel at home. For example, a gabion filled with stones forms the backdrop for a large herb wall. With glass counters and open preparation areas, entrepreneur Kreuzberg also creates a very unique ambience in his centre.
One of our main tasks in design is to dictate customers' speed using the visual layout. “After all, routing and integrated 'brakes' increase browsing time and therefore also revenue,” explains Bernhard Braun. The proposed concept was implemented virtually completely, in just three months. Up to 20 Wanzl technicians were working at the installation site in Koblenz.
The lines of the shelving in the new Kreuzberg E-Center are surprising, including many convexes and concaves. The system used, wire tech from Wanzl, provides plenty of layout scope, allows maximum flexibility and makes the merchandise the clear focus of attention. “Round and soft forms, barely perceptible corners and clear presentation of goods: these are shopfitting trends that will become established in the long term,” Bernhard Braun is convinced. Curved lines in wire are Wanzl's specialty – revealing the roots of the steel engineering firm, which combines custom shopfitting solutions with the efficiency of industrial production. Top quality is a signature feature, and large quantities can also be easily supplied. |

In May, the Italian retailer Finiper opened its 26th Iper hypermarket, on the southern shore of Lake Garda in lombardic Lonato. The Wanzl alu tech and wire tech shopfitting systems ensure an impressive image is presented at PoS - on an area of around 8,000 square metres. Finiper was so satisfied with Wanzl's work that the company placed its next order while the first was still being implemented: the use of Wanzl systems in the renovation of the Iper hypermarket in Seriate, near Bergamo (total floor space 12,400 m²). Around 5,000 square metres were previously outfitted by Wanzl Shopfitting.
A huge food and non-food range, friendly service, regular special offers and always fresh produce make the Iper brand so popular with Italian customers. The new, almost 12,000-square-metre outlet in Lonato also offers the hallmark Iper benefits. The outlet is located in a shopping mall of around 120 stores which was opened after twelve months of construction.
The staff at Wanzl's branch in Italy took care of the customer in Lonato in close coordination with the Shopfitting team from the Wanzl head office in Germany. During the first phase of the project, Finiper received a mock-up with virtual 3D CAD models and original samples scaled to actual size.
The entire Housewares department was fitted with alu tech: Wanzl supplied shelves and freestanding display units for merchandise presentation on an area of around 700 square metres. Finiper opted for the system developed by Wanzl specifically for the non-food sector because of its high variability and design flexibility above all. Its modern, stylish look and the different combination options with wood, glass, plastic, metal and wire impressed all round.
Wanzl supplied seven different types of freestanding unit and wall shelving, both as stand-alone solutions and wall-mounted systems. For the stand-alone models, Iper uses rear shelving walls made of wood. Large-scale image motifs present the product range and help customers to find what they want easily. Stable wooden shelves complement the characteristic aluminium profile and bring the merchandise to the fore. An innovative LED light system assists in the display.
In the other non-food departments such as Toys, Multimedia, Pharmacy etc. and the dry food range, the wire tech system was used, not least because of its transparency and flexibility. Around 7,000 square metres were shopfitted here.
A new development was requested in the cosmetics departments of the Iper hypermarkets in Lonato and Seriate: the sensitive cosmetics had to be protected from overheating using special lighting. The designers at Wanzl therefore worked with the Italian firm L+S to develop a T5 fluorescent tube for the wire tech system with a housing of lucite and aluminium that limits its temperature to a maximum of 30°C.
By the end of the year, Finiper plans to equip a further six existing Iper markets with the alu tech shopfitting system. The company will then continue the renovation works until all Iper outlets have uniform store branding and are perceived by the customer as a distinctive brand.
Finiper, based in Montebello in northern Italy, generates most of its turnover through its 26 Iper hyper markets. The self-service department stores are located mainly in northern and central Italy; Finiper is the market leader in the Lombardy region. The company is ranked tenth in Italy. In addition to its extensive hypermarkets, Finiper operates self-service restaurants and garden centres.

| In the western suburb of Cologne, Widdersdorf, something very special has emerged: a combination of typical Cologne "Veedelskultur" (neighbourhood culture) and modern living in a wide range of different forms. The new Engels E-Center is located on the edge of the "Jakobsviertel" with its rather Mediterranean flair. The shopfitting experts from Wanzl consciously incorporated the basic concept of this residential area in the design and development of the market. As a result, an E-Center covering 2,500 square metres has emerged that tells its very own story and positions itself unmistakeably in this particular location. Managing Director Jürgen Engels: "Our E-Center is located on the famous St. James' Way. The idea of adopting the symbolism of this pilgrimage route and the Mediterranean character of the Jakobsviertel thrilled my wife and me immediately. Because that will make our market unique." The first presentation by the Wanzl shopfitting experts in December 2007 won over all the entrepreneurs straight away. The building project started in May 2008, and the entire construction lasted 10 months. The businessman Jürgen Engels runs two retail businesses that belong to Edeka Rhine-Ruhr. The new E-Center will replace the previous market in Widdersdorf. Decorative archways and sweeping, curved lines convey a Mediterranean flair, awaken associations and create a dynamic, comfortable atmosphere in the Engels E-Center. In the entrance area, an antique fountain invites visitors to relax – and so shopping becomes to some extent a holiday experience and a journey into a different world. However, the shopfitters from Wanzl did not forget where the E-Center is actually located: the Cologne dialect was used for the customer communications, which adds a certain local colour. In this case, the initial situation was ideal for creating a consistent overall concept: from the first idea right through to the implementation, the E-Center in Widdersdorf-South all came from a single source. The Wanzl team not only developed the concept, but also designed, produced and delivered the entire shopfitting as the general contractor for Jürgen Engels. The range of services also included the carpentry work in the interior, including the specially produced ceilings. Another element was the focus lighting in the areas of Fruit and vegetables, Fitted refrigerators, Cosmetics, Wine and the checkout zone. The design marketing elements were also developed by Wanzl, starting with the slogans for the various departments through to the text and image brands. In terms of the shelving, Managing Director Jürgen Engels chose the versatile and effective Wanzl system, wire tech. Services and support from a single source thanks to the wide service portfolio of the corporation: the shopping trolleys, the entrance system and the customer guidance system were also supplied by Wanzl. | |

The panel awarded us this prize for our quality management system, which we have integrated universally into all company business areas. The term "Total Quality Management (TQM)" refers to a conclusive overall concept for peak performances which is conveyed by the corporate philosophy and influences all further development.
The continual improvement and optimisation of all business processes are aimed at implementing the "zero error strategy" and only serve to offer customers around the globe the highest possible quality standards and consequently the maximum possible satisfaction.
But universal customer orientation extends far beyond quality indicators in target agreements. Customers' individual requirements must be met in every regard - for example through prudent management that derives the right solution for correcting mistakes from every complaint.
We see the Bavarian State Quality Award 2007 as confirmation of our past efforts and as a challenge for our future tasks.

The retail firm abt from Ulm, Germany was chosen as one of the five best specialty stores in the world, winning the gia Global Innovator Award. The prize is given out each year at the International Home & Housewares Show in Chicago. This award is the only one of its kind in the world for internationally innovative trade concepts in the areas of Table and Kitchen, Gifts and Lifestyle, and is highly valued in the industry.
abt had already been honoured as the German winner for 2007 of the Frankfurt "Ambiente" trade fair. In March, the specialty store took part in an international competition between a total of 23 companies in Chicago. All hoped to be chosen as one of the five best specialty shops in the world.
Criteria such as depth and breadth of range, appealing and original merchandise presentation, actions and events, brand presence and customer service were part of the valuation.
After the complete renovation and restructuring of the business at the end of 2005, the internal architectural structure and innovative goods display systems in particular took centre stage. The new look created appealingly structured, cross-range consumer experiences relating to table and cooking culture, living and lifestyle, gifts, arts and crafts and toys that won over the gia jury, among others.
Of particular note here is the "alu tech" system from Wanzl Shopfitting, which was used to set up the specialty shop. The system's unique design facilitates varied, impressive merchandise presentation. The flexibility when choosing rear panels, coloured or illuminated, and the almost limitless possibilities of construction combinations make this system a classic for attractive and prominent goods display and contributes to a distinctive brand presence.

Paschmann is well known within the Edeka Rhein-Ruhr: the entrepreneur has been a member of the association for 35 years and operates 10 retail stores. His focus? Quality, continuity and stability. Nevertheless, at the start of 2008 he made the decision to take a chance on a new shopfitting partner with whom to develop a trend-setting concept. A brave decision, which has resulted in something very special in Mülheim. The new E-Center with its 400 m2 beverage store stands for diversity, variety and pleasure; just a few metres away from the old location.
The opportunity for change came when a site become available – directly opposite the old store. All at once, the entrepreneur had twice as much space available to him. Heinz-Wilhelm Paschmann seized the opportunity and brought new partners on board. The shopfitting experts from Wanzl presented an initial design draft based on the ground plan concept of Edeka Rhein-Ruhr back in January 2008.
The consistent implementation of the design ideas in all areas resulted in a new quality, a new aesthetic in the area of supermarkets. Owner Heinz-Wilhelm Paschmann is proud of the successful design and communicates this very deliberately to the outside world with his new slogan "Essthetik – die neue Schönheit des Einkaufens". (Essthetik is a play on the German words "essen" (to eat) and "Ästhetik" (aesthetics), described by the slogan as the new beauty of shopping.) Company secretary Peter Drießen, who is also responsible for the interior of all stores at Edeka Paschmann, also places particular value on this aspect: "We want this idea to become ingrained, therefore we're strategically using the slogan, which we have in fact protected, in all marketing measures."The word mark reflects what the concept promises: the whole atmosphere is defined by aesthetics and freshness, so that shopping becomes an experience.
The design makes deliberate use of a small number of stylistic devices that, like the topics in classic compositions, keep appearing in new guises. This means that in spite of the modernity, the most important thing – the merchandise – is always to the fore. A key design element is a circular, backlit cloth panel with a tendrillar-like pattern, surrounding almost the entire sales area. It links the different areas and creates a very emotive, protective atmosphere. This impression is reinforced by the special lighting: the light shining out into the space is white, while a blue light is shone upwards to soften the appearance of the walls. This acts like a horizon, conveying an impression of vastness and openness.
The end result is an E-Center in which the customers feel at ease, despite an almost inconceivable abundance of goods. Customers can even enjoy freshly-prepared meals in the in-store restaurant: the "Culino" bistro, like the entire store, invites the customer to linger.
The "wire tech" system from Wanzl was used almost everywhere as the fitting system, consistently emphasising the principle of "products in the focus". New radii were realised specifically for the store in Mülheim. The overall concept is based on flowing shapes: round partitions that can also be used to display goods are both structural and design elements. Convex and concave shapes dominate the overall impression, which is soft and harmonious.
Spatial planning, shop fittings, carpentry, ceiling and floor design: they all bear the same hallmark. The customer guidance system, the double e-Gate entrance system as well as the self-service products are also provided by Wanzl, including 300 shopping trolleys with the high-quality "Power Coating" finish in anthracite metallic, 20 transport trolleys as well as special shopping trolleys with holder for a baby bucket seat and bright "Fun Cabrios“ for small customers.
Interesting to know: after Peter Drießen visited the Wanzl stand at EuroShop, he was so impressed by a number of the new products that he immediately wanted to include them in the project in Mülheim. No sooner said than done: the concept, which had already been finalised at that time, was then added to and optimised once more. So it happens that the new solutions for fruit and vegetables, for example, have already proven their practical suitability in the "latest" E-Center from Heinz-Wilhelm Paschmann.

The German food retailer tegut is constantly advancing, thus setting new standards for the retail trade. Natural cosmetics sections have been set-up in the tegut markets in Weiterstadt and Lorsch that well exceed what customers were so far used to in the food retailing sector. The areas, 120 square metres each, were planned and designed with the support of Wanzl Shopfitting.
The aesthetic and functional requirements were high: the aim was to convince leading natural cosmetic brands to present themselves in a new way. This is why Thomas Gutberlet required Wanzl to “think entirely differently”. Areas that are of top quality and class and yet appear natural have been designed in cooperation with the cosmetics companies. Approximately three months after the first concrete briefing, market inauguration was celebrated in Weiterstadt in Hesse, Germany. The entire portfolio of known brands like Lavera, Logona, Savon du Midi, Sante, Weleda, Alviana, Sanotint and Extracta has been available to tegut customers since May 2008 in Weiterstadt and since the end of October in the new tegut market in Lorsch (Hesse) - so far unique in the classic food retailing business.
Shop fitting, ceilings, floors, lighting: everything has been designed by the shop fitters from Leipheim. The task was to create an own world for natural cosmetics inside the tegut markets. The concept therefore reflects the visual understatement and well-coordinated, harmonious design that are characteristic for all tegut markets and takes these features one step further. Here, bright white meets top-class zebrawood veneer. Shelves are coated with a matching, warm, golden, sandy tone. Light housings with soft natural motifs create a tranquil and impressive atmosphere. Partly illuminated, sophisticated glass shelves in transparent-green serve as attractive eye-catchers. The shape of a "swinging drop of water" is hovering from the ceiling. Apart from the regular product lighting, atmospheric lighting and lamps over the gondolas create a special atmosphere of well-being.
The gondola heads were partly equipped with the new Wanzl >>scindo tech<< system, which is ideally suitable due to its visual lightness. >>wire tech<< was also used, just like in all other sections of both supermarkets. The curved central element, made of a combination of >>wire tech << and wood was custom-made. Important aspects for Wanzl are shape and functionality. This is why the showcases and gondola heads have snap frames, making it possible to exchange the motifs quickly. The plinth area of the shelves with drawers on telescoped slides offer storage space.
The right contact for all applications
Apart from the natural cosmetics sections, Wanzl Shopfitting fitted the entire markets, with almost 2,700 square metres in Weiterstadt and 2,100 square metres in Lorsch. Here, tegut is once again using the proven >>wire tech<< system. The entire range of self-service products also comes from Wanzl: a wide range of sales products and displays, shopping trolleys in numerous designs as well as trolley shelters and entrance and exit systems.
